H Equation

Are we just focusing on equations for H or other elements too?

I believe in the lecture Lavelle said that the equations given were for Hydrogen atoms. I do not know if we need to know equations for other elements

I thought that too, but how would other elements apply to equations?

if you were working with a different element, because of the difference in number of electrons, the Rydberg constant would be different.

With multi-electron atoms, they are characterized by equations used to describe wavelengths that are unique from hydrogen, so using the Rydberg formula for these atoms will yield an incorrect value. As far as I believe this class is concerned, we will only be working with the hydrogen atom as it only has one electron.

Are we only going to learn the quantum equation for Hydrogen, or are we expected to know it for others, such as carbon an oxygen?

Also, is the only thing that would change in different equations for different elements the Rydberg constant? Or would the entire makeup of the quantum equation for that element be different from what we learned for hydrogen?
