### n energy levels

Does the H-atom have a finite number of energy levels. I know that we only specified 1-4 in lecture but n=5 was also mentioned. Is there a way to know how many there are?

### Re: n energy levels

Theoretically speaking, there are infinitely many energy levels for any atom. But as we move away from the nucleus, the energy gap between two consecutive energy levels decreases. At these points, the energy gaps become so negligible that you can't really differentiate between energy levels.
