Rydberg Equation
Can someone explain the Rydberg equation that was states in class that differs from v=R (1/ni^2-1/nf^2)?

Re: Rydberg Equation
The actual Rydberg's formula is the one that you typed in the latter half of your question. The steps that Dr. Lavelle took was just the step by step version of the formula, then used to find wavelength.

Re: Rydberg Equation
The E=(-hR)/n^2, is to find the energy at that level. If you use this formula you will have to do it for the initial and for the final and then subtract it. The equation you put is the condensed way of doing it.

Re: Rydberg Equation
Is the Rydberg equation always initial minus final? In my discussion we wrote it as final minus initial? Im a bit confused about which orientation is correct.
