What is the difference between the equations v=R((1/(n1^2))-(1/(n2^2))) and -hR/n^2? What are the similarities? What is their overall relationship?

The first equation is used to calculate the frequency of the emitted light when electrons transition between energy levels. When light is absorbed, the transition is up to a higher energy level. When light is emitted, the transition is down to a lower energy level. The calculation is always done using (final energy level)- (initial energy level). The second equation is used to calculate the energy at a specific energy level n. However, it can be incorporated into calculating energy transitions. deltaE= Ef-Ei (deltaE= (-hR/n1^2) - (-hR/n2^2). Note that these equations only apply for the hydrogen atom.

Right, the first equation solving for frequency is just a manipulation of the second equation that finds levels at different energy shells!
