What is the relationship between the hydrogen atom and Rydberg constant?

The Rydberg constant was experimentally determined for Hydrogen only.

You would only use the R value in the case of using the Bohr model equation and that equation directly related to energy regarding H atoms

Just to explain what the previous comments stated, in class we only use the constant with hydrogen, this is because the model only works with a one electron system (such as hydrogen, but it would work for others with one electron only).
