6th edition 1.13 part A

Postby Anushi Patel 1J » Wed Oct 10, 2018 4:22 pm

Can someone show me how they worked through question 13 in the 6th edition chapter 1? Specifically part A, since the others build off of it. I tried plugging the numbers into the Rydberg equation and I ended up with the wrong wavelength.

If this question is the one about calculating the wavelength of radiation generated by the electronic transition from n=4 to n=2, I suggest watching the video module entitled Atomic Spectra posted on the chemistry site. You can go to the "Worked Example" part (54:10); professor breaks down the question, and explains the steps needed to answer it. Once you've got the frequency, the wavelength can be calculated. Hope this helped.
