Formulas?
Can anyone clarify which equations we need to know? I'm kind of lost with the Rydberg expression v=R(1/n21-1/n22), Weins Law, and the Bohr Frequency condition: hv=E(upper)-E (lower).

Re: Formulas?
Dr. Lavelle's Quantum World Lecture Outline on his website specifies which equations we need to know.

Re: Formulas?
He also mentioned that he really does not want us using Rhydberg's equation because there's more room for error. He wants us to use E = -hR/(n^2) for each energy level and then go E(final)-E(initial) so that we actually understand the problem and don't get positive and negative signs mixed up. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Re: Formulas?
The formulas on the equations sheets are probably the ones he wants us to use. He hasn't lectured about wein's law yet, so I don't think we'll be using that one. I think it will be helpful to know the Ryd equation, just in case you want to use it. The other formulas on that sheet are more important though and make sure you really know those.

Re: Formulas?
I think a very good reference point for the equations that we might need to know would be the 'Constants and Equations' pdf that is on Dr. Lavelle's class website! :)
