### Atomic Spectroscopy vs Molecular Spectroscopy

Whats the difference between atomic spectroscopy and molecular spectroscopy? On Dr. Lavelle's syllabus it says "understand the difference bt electronic transitions in atomic orbitals (atomic spectroscopy) and electronic transitions in molecular orbitals (molecular spectroscopy)." What does this mean?

Atomic spectroscopy studies how electromagnetic energy is absorbed or emitted by atoms. Molecular spectroscopy studies the interactions of both atoms and molecules. Therefore, molecular spectroscopy is much more comprehensive as it provides more information about certain characteristics.
