In the ultraviolet spectrum of atomic hydrogen, a line is observed at 102.6 nm. Determine the values of n for the initial and final energy levels of the electron during the emission of energy that leads to this spectral line.

I understand how to solve this question it is just that I am confused why the answer is n=1 to n=3 and not n=3 to n=1. Doesn't emission mean an electron going down an energy level?

Typo. Answer is n = 3 to n = 1 as energy is emitted.
