Balmer, Lyman, Paschen Series
Do we need to explicitly know the Blamer, Lyman, and Paschen series for the test? For example do we need to know which each of their lowest energy levels are?
Re: Balmer, Lyman, Paschen Series
I haven't taken the test yet, but from my understanding, we are supposed to know the lowest energy level and the type of electromagnetic radiation each series represents.

I suggest just knowing which series responds to which energy level and nature of light, for example either visible or ultraviolet but I do not think it is necessary to know much more beyond that.

Re: Balmer, Lyman, Paschen Series
The balmer series results from electron transitions between high energy levels to an energy level that has a principal quantum number that equals 2, the lyman series is the same but with a principal quantum number of 1, and the paschen series is the same but with a principal quantum number of 3.
