Electron Transitions

Postby Abigail Carter 4G » Sun Nov 03, 2019 8:50 pm

En = -(hR/n^2)

I understand that this equation calculates electron transitions but I don't understand what that means.

On a test what is an example of an question that you need to use this equation for?

This equation gives the energy of the level that the electrons are on. With it, you can calculate the energy of two different levels, and then do the final minus the initial to get the energy difference between the levels. This will give you the energy that the electron either absorbed to jump up or emitted to fall back down.
