### Rydberg Equation

For the Rydberg equation that is equal to frequency, is there a negative sign in front of the Rydberg constant?

$v = R\left ( \frac{1}{n^2initial} - \frac{1}{n^2 final}\right )$

It depends. If you factor out a negative yes, but as you can see here there isn't

Yes, there is a negative sign. Dr. Lavelle went over it in lecture today. E = -h*r / (n^2) is the equation.
