Sapling HW #10

Postby Sarina Mak 1B » Sun Nov 01, 2020 11:28 pm

The average speed of a diatomic chlorine molecule is 323.9 m/s. What is the average wavelength? I've use chlorine's molar mass 35.453 and divided by avogadro's number and got 5.88E-27g. Then I multiplied by 2 because it is diatomic and converted to kg and got 1.17e-25. Then I used Broglie's equation to solve for wavelength and got 1.73E-11m, but sapling says its incorrect. Can someone tell me where I messed up?

Yes! You are doing it right! I am pretty sure the only reason that it is saying its wrong is because your answer is in meters so just convert is to nanometers and you should be good to go!

I tried 1.73E20 and it is still incorrect.
