Re: Studying
I usually look over all the outlines and make sure I know what all of it is, so I'm planning on just going over all the outlines again, and if I'm not sure on a certain topic that's what I focus on.
Re: Studying
Hello! When I study for midterms I tend to look at the outlines posted on the Chemistry Website! These are very helpful because they state what you should know and provide a list of textbook questions you can do to prepare! These are super great and the content is closely related to the content on the exams! I would say doing these are best! If there are any topics you need help in I would suggest looking here on Chemistry Community, asking TA's, going to office hours/ UA workshops and looking at Youtube videos! (I find that Youtube videos help a ton!) I hope this was helpful!

Re: Studying
I would recommend going to TA office hours and workshops for extra practice problems. Also make sure to utilize Dr. Lavelle's Chemistry website to make sure you understand all of the fundamental topics!

Re: Studying
This is all great advice, I would also recommend going over both of the midterms and looking at the questions you missed, which I believe you can do by asking your TA if you can review your midterms.

Re: Studying
I would probably go over the outlines, go over practice problems, and spend more time on topics on questions that were missed on the previous midterms.

Re: Studying
I personally would do through the outlines and pinpoint where you need help. From there I would attend Step up sessions and office hours to clear up any questions. Then I would practice practice, problems from the syllabus are very helpful.

Re: Studying
I think it's a good idea to go through and complete the textbook problems, perhaps with a partner. You could also watch videos to help strengthen your understanding of concepts and read through the textbook as well.
Re: Studying
I recommend completing the textbook problems that were suggested in the syllabus and attending TA office hours if you have any confusion or would like clarification on any of the topics or problems.

Hey, how many times a week do you go to step up sessions? How many do you recommend? And is there a specific ua you like?

Re: Studying
Understanding the materials conceptually rather than memorizing certain method/shortcut to solve a problem is also important in my opinion

Hi! Personally, I would work on the homework problems and skim through the video lectures a bit. Hope this helps!

Re: Studying
I'm planning on reviewing the learning outcomes outlined in the syllabus, and seeing where I need to review most. I find its most efficient to review what I need to instead of practicing topics I feel comfortable with. It feels challenging but it's definitely worth the effort :)
Re: Studying
personally, i do the textbook problems and attend as many UA sessions as i can because they are a great resource for reviewing, clarifying, and explaining concepts.

Re: Studying
Hi,
I review the textbook problems and the Achieve homework. Looking at the outlines and making sure you are comfortable with the bulleted concepts is a good idea. Also, attending TA sessions can be helpful, too.

Re: Studying
Hello, for the final I am doing the textbook problems and reviewing the achieve homework from the beginning of class. I am also going to review some of the topics that I had to work on a little more or that were harder for me. Besides that I am looking over the achieve homework on the questions I had to have more tires on. Hopefully this helps!

Re: Studying
A lot of the UA's post worksheets for review that are incredibly helpful (especially if you are unable to attend their sessions). The majority of them have taken Lavelle's class and therefore have knowledge of what his tests are like to help prepare us. The syllabus questions are definitely good practice as well considering Lavelle has made it obvious that some of our previous midterm questions have been pulled exactly from these problems.
Re: Studying
Make sure to do the practice problems ahead of time so you can go over specific questions and get a sense of your understanding of the material so you know what to focus on

I personally am going to go over the outlines and practice problems provided to us, placing emphasis on what I feel I am lacking on.

Re: Studying
TA Office Hours and the review sessions that Professor Lavelle posts should be good resources. I'd be sure to focus on the more recent topics that we've covered this quarter as well, since the final is going to focus more on recent content.

I'm gonna go over the book problems, then attend the review sessions to make sure I know everything.

Re: Studying
Hey,
I usually do all the questions on the syllabus and reread my notes a couple of times, while writing down any topics I don't understand and need to review again. I also recommend going to some of the workshops and step-up sessions. The worksheets provided there are good practice.

I usually went to about two before each midterm, but I am definitely going to bump that number up with with final coming up. However there is no specific ua I think anything is useful! For the final my goal is to attend 4, but it is week 10 so I will not be mad if I can only fit in 2-3.

Re: Studying
Hi Debby!
I study by reviewing textbook problems and looking over past finals if you can get access to them from upperclassmen/organizations that have test banks. Rewatching Lavelle's lectures at 2x speed is also helpful.
Hope this helps!

Re: Studying
Personally, I'd redo old homework problems and do the recommended textbook problems. I'd also recommend re-watching old lectures to refresh your memory, and watching YouTube videos on things that still don't quite make sense. Finally, I'd focus a bit more on newer and recent material that we haven't been tested on yet. Best of luck!

The best study thing that I did was answer practice questions and work with the material a lot.

Re: Studying
I would recommend reading the textbooks for sections you dont fully understand, and working through the problems too. go through the outlines and make sure you understand everything there and I would focus on quantum becuase thats what we spent the most time on.

Re: Studying
Personally, doing all of the suggested textbook problems on the syllabus helped. I would also say try to review any information that is slightly confusing by going to review sessions as it makes the conceptual topics easier to understand
