Mass of an electron

On page 43 of the course reader it talks about the photoelectric effect and the equation for kinetic energy (Ek=1/2 me-*ve-). I was wondering if the mass of an electron is the same no matter what element is given.

Yes, the mass of an electron of any element is always the same. That mass is 9.10938356 × 10-31 kilograms. Hope that helps!

Does anyone know the difference between binding energy and threshold energy?

Binding energy is the energy that bounds the electron to the metal. The threshold energy is the minimum energy necessary to eject an electron from the metal surface.
