Test 2

Postby 005388369 » Sat Nov 16, 2019 11:55 am

Do we need to know how to calculate anything for Test 2? Or will it all pretty much be concept based?

It all seems to be mostly concept based. The only numerical content would be the strengths of bonds and bond angle degrees.

In discussion section, my TA mentioned that it would be more conceptual and there would be less calculations compared to test 1 and the midterm. The test will cover types of intermolecular interactions such as hydrogen bonding, VSEPR formulas and shapes, determining if a molecule is polar or non-polar, pi and sigma bonds, etc. Most of the questions will require drawing a lewis structure, knowing bond angles, knowing general shapes, knowing what bonds are stronger, and knowing where to draw dipole moments.

Since Test 2 will only be on topics covered in the last 3 lectures i'd assume it's going to be mainly concept based.

So the test will cover topics from section 2D in the textbook to what we've learned now?

The test will cover material after the midterm which has been very conceptual thus far. I don't think certain calculations are required but I would suggest checking in with the TAs

we haven't really learned any equations or anything so mostly conceptual based i believe
