When will our final grades from the midterm be posted? Also, I heard someone say Lavelle may be offering partial credit? How would that be the case because they are multiple choice?

I don't know when the grades will be posted, but questions are weighted differently and under the midterm on CCLE, it says "higher point questions have partial credit for some incorrect answers".

I think they will post exam scores after everyone takes it. I heard some answer choices will have partial credit since they might partially be correct.

My TA said probably after this Friday our midterm grades will be up. As for the partial credit, I feel like since some questions have to separate parts, if we get one part correct and the other part wrong then that would be considered partial credit.

Yes, I've heard that as soon as all the discussions have taken the midterm, the grades will be posted.

I think he said that partial credit will be awarded for some answer choices. I took that as partial credit for doing the necessary calculations and maybe picking an answer in the wrong final units, but I don't know for sure what type of answer could be worth partial credit.

I'm pretty sure the grades will be posted after everyone has taken the midterm, and since certain questions have different point values, I'd assume sometime this upcoming week. I can't say for sure though. Don't stress too much everyone!

I believe there is partial credit for when the question asks for multiple answers. Getting one part right but the other wrong would result in partial credit

I am not sure when the scores will be posted as well. There could be a few who need to take it, I am not 100% sure. :)

My guess for the partial credit is that other answer choices might be the answers to certain steps needed to solve the problem. For example if there are 3 steps needed (each using something previously solved to get to the final answer), each answer choice might be the answer to the step. That way if we don't get the final answer, they might be able to tell we got close/to a certain step before getting our final answer wrong. This is just my guess though :)

Lavelle said it will be posted on Thursday from his office hours. Partial credit may come from these questions that are two parts. So our of the four choices, you got half of the problem right but not the other. Ex. choice a) 450nm, visible light choice b) 450nm, UV light. Certain midterm choices were structured as such which allows u to get half right half wrong

I am in Dr. Lavelle's office hours and he said that all grades including chemistry community should be updated by Thursday. Additionally, for the recent midterm we took some questions contained incorrect answers that were not fully but partially correct. If you chose a partially correct question then you will receive partial credit for choosing that answer.

I think Lavelle said he would be reviewing questions that a lot of people missed on M1 and M2 for the final but I am unsure if he is going to be reviewing them now.

They just emailed and the results are on the grade tab in CCLE. Both midterms is out of 110 points and the average was 86%.

I've been hearing that the only way to find out your overall grade is to calculate it yourself. You can add up all the points you have in the grade book and divide it by the total points so far in the class to calculate your current grade. I believe so far the total points we have in the grade book currently is 150 points (only counting 20 out of the total 50 points so far for Chemistry Community for the whole quarter).
