In Lavelle's 17th lecture he said you will not need to calculate dipole moments. Just know that increase in bond length increases the dipole moments.

No need to know how to calculate them, just now how to identify them and how they contribute to the molecule.

You don't need to know how to calculate them. You just need to be able to identify them and what they do.
