final timing

did anyone else have a really difficult time with the timing for the final? for both midterms I had time to review answers and for the final I had to completely guess on multiple answers because I ran out of time :( if this wasn't experienced across the board, does anyone have any suggestions for bettering problem-solving timing for 14b?

I honestly felt the same thing. I barely finished on time and I also had to guess for a couple of questions, which was heartbreaking.

Yes, I had the same problem. I think it was that the questions on the final progressively required more time, so your pacing at the beginning of the exam wasn’t sufficient.

I missed out on like 20 minutes of my exam because I had to get my materials checked before I could start :/ that was a bummer but there's nothing to do now except to move forward.

Personally, I felt like the time during the final flew by quite fast. I agree that when taking the midterms we had a comfortable amount of time to both answer each question and review responses for accuracy. I don't believe that there was a problem with the time provided, though; I simply feel that I took more time for each problem because a wide variety of topics was covered. If I had been more thoroughly prepared, I probably would have been more comfortable with the time provided.

Yes! I felt pretty rushed on the final too! The only thing that helped me get through the whole exam is putting off the tough question or questions I did not understand towards to the end of the exam Does anyone have any other tips?

I usually finish exams (especially multiple choice ones) with a moderate amount of time to spare, but this exam went by pretty fast. But I kind of expected it because it was a final and braced myself for the possibility that I may not finish. Personally, the questions with finding empirical formula was something I did not factor in because I spend a long time on those.

If we get more multiple-choice tests in the future (in 14B), my strategy would be to go through the test once and only work on problems that I know I can do. If I glance at it and I don't immediately know the answer (conceptual ?'s) or don't know how to solve it (math problems), then I don't attempt it until later. Sometimes reading the question and going to another one gives you more time to remember how to do it.

Also if you know that you're slow doing a certain type of problem, then keep that in mind when planning out your testing strategy (and also practice it to get faster).

Yea I noticed that there was less time for the final, but I think the best strategy is probably to do the ones you know for sure first, then leave the harder/unknown ones for last.

Yes I definitely ran out of time too. I caught myself obsessing over problems that I wasn't sure about, so I was rushing at the end. I've definitely learned my lesson from that and hopefully can take that lesson into 14B! We got this guys! :)

I definitely felt that on the final. It wasn't that I didn't have enough time though, it was just that I was sitting on one problem for a while towards the end.

I definitely felt the time pressure. Though I did budget my time strictly and get through the questions with time to spare, there was still so little of it that I felt incredibly stressed while checking my answers.

I think how I try to get around this is by looking at the amount of questions and the time and seeing how much time I can spend on each question. This has been a pretty good method so far!

To be honest I tried to do 3 minutes per question but at times I would just try to answer the question and I would see I took about 10 minutes to answer it. It was difficult to manage my time and try to understand the questions.

I noticed being pressed for time too! Especially in the first half the problems took me some time, and halfway in I realized I wouldn't be able to finish if I didn't pick up the pace. Time was definitely a lot tighter on the final than on either one of the midterms.

This final was definitely no joke. I did poor on the first midterm because of poor studying habits but I did great on the second one. However this final for sure humbled me, I am hoping for the best currently

I felt like the timing for me was really off for the final but i think that was due to struggling a lot more with the questions on the final, which caused me to spend more time on the individual questions. Maybe a good solution would be to tackle the harder problems first but also give yourself a certain amount of time for those

Compared to both midterms, where I had plenty of time to go over my answers twice, the final really had me struggling to stay within the "3 minutes per question" time frame. I ran out of time and had to guess the answers I couldn't spend time on. I should have probably gone through all the questions that are easiest to answer first and then spend time on the more lengthy questions because all questions were worth the same amount.

The timing was a problem for me too. The questions that require calculations took most of my time, and I felt rushed. Hopefully, we all did well enough to get a decent grade.

Yes I felt like I was really rushing in the end. The sad part is that i felt like i understood how to solve all the questions, i just didn't have anytime to do it
