Do you guys think its important to know the difference between the Lewis and Bronsted definitions for acids and bases for this class?

Yes, you should know this; as a reminder, Lewis acids accept electron pairs and Lewis bases donate electron pairs. Bronsted-Lowry acids donate H+ while BL bases accept H+
