Enthalpy and Work

It was discussed in class that the heat/energy released in a reaction is available to do work. Can you relate this concept to the equation Work= Force* Distance to find the bond length of molecules?

Interesting idea.

But not suitable to find bond lengths as one wants bond lengths for stable molecules, not molecules where the bonds are being distorted/stretched and broken.
