When to use

Postby 805969887 » Thu Dec 07, 2023 1:38 pm

Hi, I’m just confused about exactly when to use the DeBroglie equation. Is it just when we see an object that isn’t on an atomic level? Like a normally sized object?

You use the equation when you're given the velocity of an electron and need to find the wavelength or vice versa.

Hi, we usually use the DeBroglie equation when we are asked to find the wavelength of an object that has mass. When dealing with objects with no mass, like photons, we typically use c=λν.
