Wavelength unit conversion

When calculating wavelength using the formula wavelength= h/(mass x velocity), I'm uncertain what units my given mass should be? I noticed that the Joules contains the units kg, so would that mean my mass needs to be in units of kg to cancel out, resulting in a end result unit of wavelength mass? Or does it not matter at all?

Mass needs to be in kg to cancel out! The only time you would use grams is for molar mass conversions. Other than that, use kg.

Yup, whenever doing calculations involving units make sure you have ones that allow you to cancel out what you don't need while ending up with the correct units for your answer. So yes in that case you would need mass in kg.

1 joule = 1 kg•m2•s-2 in SI units! :o)
