The SI unit for distance is meters, the only SI unit that has a prefix is that for mass (kg)

All of the equations are in terms of the SI units, and the variations of these units (ex kilomoters) need to be changed into the SI units before calculating.

All of the equations use SI units in order for them to all follow the same units. That's why its in meters, because meters is the SI unit for measurement of length.
