## wavelike vs particle-like

### wavelike vs particle-like

Hi,
Can someone explain the difference between these two? Like what does it mean if something has wavelike properties but not particle-like and vice versa?

Having wavelike properties means that the particle behaves like a wave. I am not sure what particle-like properties refer to though.

The particle-like properties of electromagnetic radiation (ER) refers to the findings of the photoelectric effect experiment, in which it was found that the ejection of electrons from a metal depended upon the frequency of the incoming ER source, and if the frequency did not result in electron ejection, changing intensity also did not cause ejection. This led Einstein to find that ER is made up of particles called photons, and each of these photons eject exactly one electron from a metal. Varying intensity of ER is a result of a change in the number of photons in that stream of ER. All of the information I provided was originally obtained from Chapter1B.1 from the textbook.
