Re: Kenneth's Week 6 Workshop (MT Review)
Hi everybody here is the key for today's workshop. I realized that the 8b and 8c might have been difficult and beyond the scope of this midterm during the workshop, but I still included a brief description and drawing about why they are Lewis Acids and Lewis Bases. If you have any questions about the workshop or any content, feel free to email me. Enjoy your holiday weekend and best of luck for the midterm! You guys got this!

Re: Kenneth's Week 6 Workshop (MT Review)
Hi all sorry, but I just realized a mistake in my answer key for the worksheet. For question 5 e,f,g, none of those would be able to do hydrogen bonding with itself or water because they are ions. They are ions, not molecules so they are not able to have any IMF besides ion-dipole or ion-ion. Sorry for the confusion. So the correct answers for 5e, 5f, and 5g are that these ions are not able to hydrogen bond.

Re: Kenneth's Week 6 Workshop (MT Review)
I was wondering, for 5b, wouldn't we need to have a lone pair on the Xenon in order to use all 26 valence electrons for our Lewis structure?
And, additionally, would all of those resonance structures for 5f be considered resonance since the hydrogen atoms are in different positions for some of them? I thought that resonance structures had the same arrangement of atoms and different arrangement of electrons (the electrons are the ones resonating as they are delocalized over the molecule).
Thanks!

Re: Kenneth's Week 6 Workshop (MT Review)
Hi Hannah, you are right about those two problems and that was my mistake. For 5b, I forgot to draw in the lone pair on the Xenon for it to have a formal charge of 0 and to use all the valence electrons. You are also right about the 5f question, I should have drawn the hydrogens in the same place and moved the double bond around to show resonance. I have attached the correct Lewis structures for those two questions. Sorry for the mixup.
