Radius vs Diameter

Postby rydasomera 1L » Fri Oct 27, 2023 2:54 pm

When given delta x in the form of radius, would I need to multiply it by 2 in order to get diameter and be able to plug it into the Heisenberg equation?

Yes. When we are told that an electron can be found in an atom with a given radius, it means that the electron can be found anywhere alongside the diameter of that atom. So the uncertainty, meaning all the possible locations the e- can be found, is along the diameter
