Test 3

Postby 404995677 » Sun Oct 22, 2017 3:28 pm

Hi will test 3 have Heisenberg’s indeterminacy equation and Schrodinger's equation? or will Test 3 just have Lewis Structures? Thanks!

I am pretty sure Test 3 will have all three of those topics on it, because he says:
"Know how to solve problems using Heisenberg’s indeterminacy equation, ∆p ∆x ≥ h "
"Understand the relationship between Schrodinger's equation, wave functions, and orbitals."
And a bunch of other stuff about atomic shells/subshhells on his webpage. Hopefully this clarifies a bit :)

The test will be covering the last bit of chapter 1 and most of chapter 2! So basically the second of half of the second outline he has posted on the chem 14a website (which is super helpful to look at before the test!) and things like heisenberg's equation, electron configuration, wave functions, and periodic functions. hopefully this clarifies a bit :)

I announced this in class and also on my Class website on October 23.

Make sure to check Announcements at: https://lavelle.chem.ucla.edu/class-websites/chem14a/

"Test 3 covers the remainder of Chapter 1 (Section 1.6 onwards) and all of Chapter 2."

The homework problems I assigned are the best material to focus on.

Make sure to read the detailed Outline for each section posted on my class website.
These detailed Outlines list the topics, equations, and homework problems to focus on.
