Position: Radius vs. Diameter

There's this one question on Test #3 where it asked about the uncertainty in velocity and the given info was the radius of the atom? When solving a Heisenberg problem, does the position have to be the diameter of the atom?

Yes. The uncertainty in the position pertains to the diameter. The radius would only cover half of the distance of the atom and the electron could be in the other half.

Remember that the possibility of finding the electron would be in the space of the atom (electron is confined to within the diameter of the atom), so you use the diameter.
