how do i determine what orbital an atom belongs to when given n and l?

N is the principal quantum number and all orbitals with the same value of n are in the same shell. L specifies the shape of the orbital and divides it into subshells with 0 being s, 1 being p, 2 being d, and 3 being f. For example, a subshell with n=2 and l=1 would be in the 2p orbital.
