Why does the d block start at n=3, is there a reason for this? It always throws me off :(

Hey girl!

Great question. Turn that frown upside down. The d-block starts at 3 because that is just how the periodic table works! I know it is confusing but you just have to remember that. It deals with different energies. I hope that helps.

Bye!

it starts at 3 because that is the row in the periodic table the d-block starts on, similar to how the p-block and s-block both start on the first row which is why they start off with one, because the number of electrons corresponding to it.
