orbitals

Postby 206031457 » Thu Oct 26, 2023 9:20 pm

Hello! I was studying orbitals a couple days ago and was wondering we have to learn how navigate elements in the f-orbitals block of the periodic table. I know so far we've only been tested on the s, p, and d blocks. Is it helpful to know beyond those blocks as well for this course or for the 14 series?

I think Professor Lavelle said that for this course we would mostly just be focusing on the s, p, and d orbitals.

hi! if i'm remembering correctly, i don't believe we need to learn anything past f orbitals for this class or even maybe the rest of the 14 series. i think either professor lavelle said so or i heard it from my ta. hope this helps !

The course is mainly focused on the s,p, and d orbitals but it might be useful to know the principle knowledge of the f orbital just in case it does appear in the final.
