Schrodinger's Equation gives shape of orbitals?

Postby Daniel Rivas 3L » Wed Oct 18, 2017 10:21 pm

So I was wondering about Schrodinger's equation after today's lecture. Does it tell us the shape of an orbital? Because the textbook says that Schrodinger's equation gives us the wave function for any particle. Or is there something I am missing?

Hi! I believe the atomic orbitals are all various solutions to Schrodinger's equation. The solutions are called wave functions, synonymous to atomic orbitals, to remind us that electrons have wave like properties.
