spherical polar coordinates

Postby Emily Kennedy 4L » Fri Oct 12, 2018 5:32 pm

So, I understand that there are three points of r, theta, and phi in a wave function but what exactly do these tell us about the orbital?

r is the distance from nucleus, theta is the angle from the positive z-axis (the "north pole", kind of like latitude), and phi is the angle about the z-axis (like longitude)
