Alternate names of n, l, ml, and ms
In professor's Lavelle's lecture he stated that n= energy and size aka shell, l= shape aka angular momentum, ml= orientation aka magnetic quantum, and ms= magnetic spin, but are there alternative names? I was reading some of the textbook problems, and they ask for subshells or principle quantum numbers. What are all the alternative names for these quantum numbers?

n=principle quantum number
l=angular momentum quantum number
ml=magnetic quantum number
ms=spin magnetic quantum number
l=angular momentum quantum number
ml=magnetic quantum number
ms=spin magnetic quantum number

Re: Alternate names of n, l, ml, and ms
Just a note: The name for the quantum number and what the quantum number describes is not the same thing.
(n) can be called the shell or the principle quantum number. It describes the energy level and size of the atom.
(l) can be called the subshell or the angular momentum quantum number. It describes the shape of the atom.
(ml) can be called the orbital or the magnetic quantum number. It labels different orbitals of subshells.
(ms) can be called the spin or the spin quantum number. It describes the direction in which the atom spins.
Hope this helped!
