### Nodal Planes on f-orbitals

How many nodal planes would an f- orbital have? Can someone explain it with details?

So memorize that
s= 0 nodal planes
p=1 nodal planes
d= 2 nodal planes
f= 3 nodal pleanes

That makes sense it just increases by 1. So then the nodal planes is related to the shape of the orbital?

F orbitals would have 3 nodal planes. The number of nodal planes is equal to the value of the angular momentum quantum number, l. For example s orbital would have 0 nodal planes, p orbital would have 1 nodal plane, d would have 2 nodal plane, and so on.
