How many orbitals are present in the (a) 4p-subshell; (b) 3d-subshell; (c) 1s-subshell; (d) 4f-subshell of an atom?

For this problem, you would need the following information: the s subshell can hold up to 2 electrons, the p subshell can hold up to 6 electrons, the d subshell can hold up to 10 electrons, and the f subshell can hold up to 14 electrons. Because each orbital can hold two electrons, you would divide the maximum number of electrons that the subshell could hold by 2 in order to find the number of orbitals present in the subshell.
Therefore, the s subshell has one orbital.
The p subshell has 3 orbitals.
The d subshell has 5 orbitals.
The f subshell has 7 orbitals.
