Atomic Orbitals

What's the importance of the orbitals? Why do we need to know this?

We will learn more about this later, but valence electrons (electrons sitting on the outermost orbital), are important to the bonding between atoms.

By knowing the orbital, it'll be easier to determine the number of valence electrons in an element, which are needed for bonding with other elements.

Orbitals tell how far the valence electrons are from the nucleus, which can be useful when determining the ionic energy and how easily it can be used to make different compounds.
