1D. 11 prob
Is this something you just have to know, how do you know how many orbitals are present when l = a certain number?

l corresponds to one of the s, p, d, or f subshells. So, based on that, you can determine the number of orbital.

The angular momentum number (l) helps specify an s, p, d, or f orbital. More specifically, it describes the subshell of the orbital. Listed below is the orbital that corresponds to the angular momentum number:
l=0, s-orbital
l=1, p-orbital
l=2, d-orbital
l=3, f-orbital
l=0, s-orbital
l=1, p-orbital
l=2, d-orbital
l=3, f-orbital
