Midterm 1

Postby Lusin_Yengibaryan_3B » Wed Oct 21, 2020 3:10 pm

Will wave functions and atomic orbitals be on midterm 1? If so, will they be a big focus or a small portion (maybe 1 question on it) of the exam?

Wave functions and atomic orbitals will not be on the midterm. Professor Lavelle sent an email today saying "Quantum numbers, s, p, d-orbitals, etc., are not on MT 1"

We will not be tested on wave functions and atomic orbitals. In Dr. Lavelle's email, he stated that we wouldn't need to be responsible for the last 8 topics on the Outline 2: The Quantum World. Hope this clears up any confusion!

No, it will not be on the exam! The exam will cover the lecture up to yesterday's (Wednesday) and Sapling up to question 19! The Sapling questions are all out of order right now though so hopefully that will be resolved soon.

My TA said that we might have to know the shapes of each of the orbital? Don't know if that's true but I don't think it'll hurt to memorize the shapes of each orbital. That being said, it definitely won't be a focus of the midterm!

According to Dr. Lavelle, Quantum numbers and orbitals will not be on the 1st midterm.
