Whether you are asking a question or answering one, I believe that any post will give you a point.

Re: Chem Community Posts
I'm pretty sure that any post that aims to answer a question, help a classmate, or engage in a discussion will get you your points. As long as it's engaging you should be fine.

Re: Chem Community Posts
As long as it relates to chemistry, any post is a valid post. This can include asking a question responding to a question, or adding onto somebody else's thoughts.

Also, make sure to create posts that are related to the topic you are posting under. Any posts should be valid as long as you are contributing in some way.

As most other people have said, I'm pretty sure any post where you're engaging in discussion, asking a question, or helping other people out will count towards your 5 posts a week! :))

Re: Chem Community Posts
Everytime you post something course-related on Chemistry Community it counts as 1 point. According to Dr. Lavelle's website (on the Weekly Online Discussion page for reference), he says that questions, answers, comments to questions or answers, or just general discussion counts as a post.

Re: Chem Community Posts
He said that we just need to engage in the chem community so whether it be a comment/response or an actual point, regardless of what topic it is as long as it's not complete nonsense, it's counted towards participation points. He just wants to emphasize that we're all helping each other and being social :D

I'm pretty sure that as long as you post something, it counts. As long as it is any interaction, your post should be counted as a point.

Re: Chem Community Posts
Hi! I believe Dr. Lavelle sent out an email entailing what counts on Chemistry Community. According to a document on his website that he linked,
"Post can be a question, an answer, a comment on a question or answer, general discussion,
assisting other students, etc."
So I would assume just as long as the post has substance to it and is not just something like a one word answer, then you should be good!
