Wave functions question

Postby Libby Stafford 1L » Fri Oct 15, 2021 11:30 am

Are wave functions different for every electron even if they're on the same orbital? Also, just to clarify is the wave function just representing the path of one singular electron?

I'd assume that they are different as every electron has a different combination of the four quantum numbers. Even in the same orbital, they have different spins. As for the clarification, the wave function doesn't map out a concrete path; we can use its square to find the probabilities of finding the electron in certain regions.
