What is Broglie's hypothesis of the wave nature of matter? How does electron diffraction by a crystal directly support the hypothesis?

Essentially, it was already known that light has wave-like properties (shine light on crystal and light will diffract. This was observed in the electron diffraction experiment where shining an electron beam at a crystal causes the electrons to diffract just like a light beam. Since light has wave-like properties and electrons behave like light, electrons also have wave-like properties which was shown by the experiment
