How do you calculate magnetic spin and how does it relate to atomic orbitals?

hello!
I'm pretty sure we won't be asked to calculate magnetic spin, but it's good to remember that on an orbital diagram (this is probably not the correct name, but it's the diagram with the arrows pointing up and down to denote electrons in different orbitals) that an upwards pointing line is indicative of an electron with a positive spin.
An important thing to remember is that no electron can have the same four quantum numbers, and there are only two electrons per orbital. Thus, one electron spins one way and the other in reverse of the first.

Are the spins always opposite to each other? if so why?/ are there any exceptions
