What is the subshell notation and the total number of orbitals having the quantum numbers n=3, l=2, for a given element?

I got subshell notation to be 3d and total number of orbitals to be 10, why is this wrong?

The 3d part of your answer is correct. n=3 is the third shell and l=2 is d. However, the d subshell contains 5 total orbitals, not 10. You may have been confused and thought it was asking for the maximum number of electrons that can be held in the 3d subshell, in which case 10 would be correct (2 electrons in each orbital).

n=3 and l=2 does give 3d because l=2 implies the d orbital. The d orbital contains 5 orbitals with 2 e- in each orbital, making it have 10e-. I think you confused the number of orbitals and the number of maximum electrons.
