question on a problem

Postby Mohamad Farhat 1L » Tue May 01, 2018 6:28 pm

find the max electrons in an atom
n=2 , l=1, ml=1, ms=+1/2
the answer is that there is 1 electron why is that.
I know that when there is 1 ml then that means there is 2 electrons. does ms make it 1 electron?

Yup! Since only one electron can have that positive spin number, the answer is 1.
