For part B) could someone help me with understanding why quantum number {5,0,-1,+1/2} is invalid?

since n= 5 then n-1, to get ml, 5-1 is = is 4. l in that problem is 0. based on what you gave me.
but generally n= the number. to get l it is n-1. to get ml it is -l to l values.

Mohamad is correct, to find the value of l you first start with the value of n which in this case is 5. To solve for l, you use the equation n-1=l. Therefore, the only possible solution of l would be 5-1 to give a value of l=4.
