Representation of each Quantum Number

Postby Daniel Kim 1D » Sat Dec 08, 2018 11:32 am

Can someone clarify to me what each Quantum Number represents in relation to which orbital an electron will be in, how many electrons can a given atom contain, and the shape of the electron orbital?

If the value of the quantum number l=0,1,2,3 then the orbital will be s,p,d,f respectively

n- principal, represents the shell
l- orbital angular momentum, represents subshell in each shell
ml- magnetic, represents orbitals in subshell
ms- spin magnetic, spin state
