Yet Another Electron Spin Question
I'm still confused about electron spin... So my question is what would happen if two electrons with perpendicular axes approached each other? I kind of get what would happen if they approached each other in parallel and anti parallel, but the perpendicularity is really messing my brain up...

That a really good question and I'm looking forward to an answer too

Re: Yet Another Electron Spin Question
Wait so like are you talking about an electron from a px orbital approaching one from a py orbital?
But just to rationalize things, there is a lot of space occupied by electrons relative to the nucleus, so I'd imagine that they'd still repel each other (because of likened charge) and perhaps this contributes to the large size of atoms compared to just the nucleus.

Re: Yet Another Electron Spin Question
The electrons would not collide with one another, but repel each other when they get close, shifting into a different spin. I think that is what happens, but I'm not a 100% sure.

I don't think so, but it is an interesting concept to think about.
