Angular momentum quantum No. vs magnetic quantum no.
May someone explain the difference between angular momentum quantum number l and magnetic quantum number m?

Angular momentum number corresponds to whether sublevel is s,p,d, or f. 0 is s, 1 is p and so forth.
Magnetic quantum number is which orbital the electron is on. For instance, p is 3 orbitals. By making the middle orbital 0, and starting the number order from there. The middle is 0, the orbital to the left is -1, and to the right is 1. In the same way, for d sublevel, middle is 0, and counting to the left is -1 and -2 and counting to the right of 0 is 1 and 2. For s, the orbital is just 0.
Magnetic quantum number is which orbital the electron is on. For instance, p is 3 orbitals. By making the middle orbital 0, and starting the number order from there. The middle is 0, the orbital to the left is -1, and to the right is 1. In the same way, for d sublevel, middle is 0, and counting to the left is -1 and -2 and counting to the right of 0 is 1 and 2. The number l describes the shape of the orbital. It can vary from 0 to n-1
0 = s orbital
1 = p orbital
2 = d orbital
3 = f orbital
(4 = g orbital, etc. These higher subshells do exist but they will always be empty - getting to the point to fill them would make an extremely large and unstable atom)
The number m describes the orientation of the orbital. It can vary from -l to l
eg. if l=2, then m=-2,-1,0,1,2. These would correspond to the five d-orbitals (It's totally arbitrary which one goes with which m because they are all the same energy)
